Around 2,000 private colleges in Telangana (including degree, PG, engineering, pharmacy, MBA/MCA etc.) have declared indefinite closure starting 15 September 2025.
Their demands include: the immediate release of pending reimbursement dues amounting to ₹1,200 crore, a deadline for clearing all dues by 31 October, a new reimbursement system being formalized by 31 December, and payments for academic year 2025‑26 to be completed by March 2026.
The situation is causing concern about faculty salaries, operations, and students’ continuity.
